Our Mission
SheaScapes LLC is a landscaping company that specializes in designing custom garden beds and installing/maintaining them organically. Not only do we deliver garden beds that are aesthetic, but ones that are highly functional in our local environments. We prioritize creating and maintaining landscapes that attract and support our local pollinators and wildlife by prioritizing native plant species, diversifying blooming periods of plants, including host plants, and much more. When creating a landscape that sings in perfect harmony with our local ecosystems, there are many steps to be taken, but you’ll only need to take one if you choose SheaScapes!
Our Story
Hi, my name is CJ Shea and I am the owner of SheaScapes. I started my own landscaping business in 2020, as a senior in high school. After starting off as a more general landscaping company, I eventually developed a passion for landscape design work, specifically designing garden beds. Then after taking a start-up incubator course in college, my professor helped me develop the idea to prioritize environmental-friendly landscape design in my business. After beginning to pursue this idea and earning a certificate in sustainable landscape design through Cornell, I quickly realized the importance of creating outdoor spaces that not only support humans but our environment as well. With the increasing use of synthetic chemicals in our landscapes, over 40% of pollinators are threatened with extinction. This is a pressing issue as pollinators are essential for food production not only for wildlife but for humans. Without pollinators, it would cause drastic cascading effects across food webs as many organisms/animals would die due to the loss of many plants. But with one landscape at a time we can solve this global issue by being more conscience of what chemicals we are using on our properties and by creating beautiful spaces for these pollinators and animals to thrive!
